Meaning
Divine salutation is an honour and respect due and given to God:
- As a form of greeting.
- Because He is Yahweh, the Lord of the Hosts (Yahweh Nke Usu Nile Nke Igwe Ndi Agha).
- Because He is the Commander-in-Chief.
It is also a way of:
- Asking/signalling for the beginning or end of an operation.
- Paying attention to God.
- Showing that minsters of God are soldiers, a Divine Military Force.
Types Of Salutations
They are:
- The single salute. The palm faces the altar.
- The triple salute, on the spot. The palm faces the altar.
- The triple salute, on three spots in a horizontal line. The palm faces the altar.
- The triple salute, on three spots in a vertical line. The palm faces the altar.
- Oscillatory salute. Synchronized movement, three steps, to and fro, in front or around the altar.
- Invitation salute, for inviting the Holy Spirit or Angels. The palm faces the altar.
- Double salute, also called Praise salute – a single salute in which the hand sharply moves up a little in the diagonal direction.
- Al round salute. The palm faces out.
- Capital salute. The fingers fold into a clench fist, to signify might or greatness. For example, a single salute goes with the shout of “The Conqueror”. But, a capital salute goes with the shout of “The Mighty Conqueror”.
